It might only be just past the middle of Winter, but a host of plants are starting to flower. Our rhododendron has a dozen or more deep dark pink flowers already, with lots and lots of buds. Our camellias, although no flowers yet, are covered in large buds, so they won’t be long. And quite a few native shrubs have lots of tiny flowers.
But the most advanced are some of our jonquils. We need to appreciate them while they are out as the strong gusty winds at this time of the year can flatten the plants, particularly as they get a bit top-heavy when in flower!
Lovely photograph Steve.. great detail and very sharp. Have you ever been tempted to take up botanical art?
